What does DID Motif help you recognize?

A visual identifier helps recognition; it is not proof of control.

DID Motif is an open-source library that derives a recognizable icon from a DID, giving people a visual cue for an otherwise hard-to-scan address.

Imagine seeing the same icon beside two records. It can prompt you to check whether they refer to the same identifier, but should not replace comparing addresses and verifying the request. Screenshots can be copied and interfaces can display incorrect data.

Use icons to help people orient themselves and notice anomalies; leave authentication to protocol and cryptographic checks. Recognition and verification serve different purposes.
