One question
How does WebID identify someone with a Web address?
HTTP URIs and profile documents offer another identification model.
WebID uses an HTTP URI to identify an agent, such as a person, organization or software, with an RDF profile describing that agent. Solid Protocol 0.11.0 uses WebIDs as foundational identifiers for users and applications.
The first difference from DID is naming and resolution: WebID relies on HTTP addresses and profile documents, while a DID uses method-specific did: syntax and resolution rules. Neither naming choice alone completes authentication or establishes universal suitability.
A notes app may identify your WebID while still needing authentication and authorization to access data. Solid discusses WebID, Solid-OIDC and access control separately.
The cited 2014 WebID document is a Community Group draft, and Solid 0.11.0 is a Community Group report. Neither is a W3C Recommendation. Hosting a specification on a W3C domain does not establish that status.
