Why is a payment more than a transfer?
Separate orders, authority, settlement and delivery.
Application payments concern orders. Who created an order, who authorized spending, how funds settle and when a service is delivered are different questions.
For an API purchase, the order describes the service, authorization permits purchase, the payment channel reports settlement, and usage records describe consumption. A repeated notification must not become a second purchase.
Payment Kit is a historical example of composing billing and checkout into an application. Crypto payment is one channel category, not the entire domain.
For an agent, generating a payment request does not grant authority. Identity, purpose, limits and reconciliation records still require explicit application design.
