What are MCP Apps?

Bring interactive HTML interfaces from MCP tools into supporting hosts.

A tool returns data; a person may then want filters, a chart or a form. MCP Apps let tools reference UI resources. A host retrieves and presents the interactive HTML, commonly in a sandboxed iframe on Web hosts. Official overview

The host is the application containing the interface. Defined messages exchange data and requests, including tool calls, subject to host capabilities and policy.

The central connection is tool–UI resource–host. An AFS-UI comparison asks both how tool results become interactive and how underlying resources and operations remain accessible in a wider context. This difference in focus does not establish a security or quality ranking.
