ArcBlock participated and was a sponsor at this weekends blockchain hackathon at the Shenzhen Bay Eco-Technology Park in Shenzhen, China. Shenzhen is known as the hardware capital of the world, but this weekend the focus changed to building DApps and blockchain-enabled services using ArcBlock’s development platform and blockchain-ready OCAP Playground. In addition to ArcBlock, several other blockchain companies were in attendance including the ever-popular Cryptokitties. Similar to previous events, the event was free and each team was given 24-hours to build their app and then present it to their peers and a panel of industry experts to decide on the winners.
CEO and Founder of ArcBlock, Robert Mao, lead a blockchain session for U.S. Navy Executives during one of several invite only HacktheMACHINE Designer sessions focused on bringing new and innovative technologies to the U.S. Navy. During the session, Robert spoke at length on the history of blockchain and introduced the core concepts behind blockchain 3.0 and how the U.S. Navy can benefit from the new generation of blockchain services. During the session, executives were given an in-depth look at the core fundamental of blockchain including the basic tenants of a smart contract, and when to use blockchain during the system design process.
ArcBlock is attending the U.S. Navy’s innovative Hackthemachine Hackathon in Seattle, WA running from September 21 - 23, 2018. Hackthemachine is designed around the Navy’s digital experience system and is presented by the Naval Sea Systems Command. During HacktheMACHINE Seattle, participants will get hand-on experience focusing on specific digital challenges confronting the U.S. Navy including use of equipment and data that has never been publically shared. The goal of HacktheMACHINE is to create meaningful conversations around innovation, maritime security and creating a positive impact on the world that will help the Navy’s thinking around cybersecurity, machine learning and rapid prototyping.
Beijing hackers show their brainpower by creating 11 DApps in 6 hours ArcBlock held it’s first hackathon in Asia hosting an event in downtown Beijing. The event was very successful with more than 10 teams competing and 60+ competitors from leading companies throughout Beijing. “We are both excited and happy to be hosting our first hackathon event in Beijing. The DApps that were created during the event surpassed our expectations, and the feedback we received was very positive.
